The Benevolent Food Pantry At Eight

Eight years ago, On April 19, 2011, the Benevolent Food Pantry was opened and started food distribution to the needy in our communities. During the grand opening more than 30 families were served. This included seniors, adults and children.

Today the food pantry distributes food every third Wednesday of each month to the needy from 10:00am to 2:00pm and on emergency. During the hurricane Irene, it was chosen as a site for disaster relief. In addition, every year, the site is used for training by the South Jersey Food Bank. Some people and organizations have donated generously to the food pantry; they include Ms. Barbara Cullen and family and friends, Wal-Mart, shop rite and ACME, Connie and Larry Landwher who donated a freezer through Francesca Vasile.

The food pantry is eight years old now. It has grown bigger and stronger and it is still growing stronger and sill touching lives positively. More lives are been touched positively by delivering food to the elderly who cannot make the trip to the food pantry location. More and more families, about 45 to 50, that is about 150 to 250 people are served monthly.

For some years now, the Food Pantry gets grant from Shop Rite partners in caring, nutritious food donations from Wawa and Pizza Hut through Harvest food donation connection.

We look forward to serve numerous families in Glassboro and its environs in the coming years.
